The Innovation and Networks Executive Agency (INEA) launched a call for proposals under the CEF Blending Facility, with EUR 198 million available grants to support transport projects. The ERTMS and alternative fuels for transport are the two priorities supported by the call for proposals, with an indicative budget of EUR 99 million each.
The call includes quarterly cut-off dates until March 2021, unless the budget would be exhausted earlier. 14 February 2020 is the first cut-off date.
The operations are a combination of grants and/or financial instruments from the EU budget and financing from implementing partners (via a loan, debt, equity or any other repayable form of support).
In March, the EC and EIB officially launched the CEF Transport Blending Facility, with an initial budget of EUR 200 million for the two priorities.
The Blending Facility seeks to promote the participation of private sector investors and financial institutions in projects contributing to the environmental sustainability and efficiency of transport in Europe.
In the context of the CEF Transport Blending Facility, the EIB is the first implementing partner involved. The European Commission is currently negotiating agreements to define the involvement of other potential implementing partners which will be published on INEA website.
