Czech Railways (ČD) announced that it has launched three tenders for the acquisition of new rolling stock. The total value of these projects is CZK 10.8 billion (about EUR 400 million).
One of the tenders involves the acquisition of 20 EMUs capable to rut at 160 km/h. with a total value of CZK 4.6 billion (EUR 170.2 million).
For the acquisition of 50 coaches for the Intercity and Eurocity services, CD has published a CZK 2.2 billion (EUR 81.4 million) tender. These coaches have to be capable rut at 200 km/h and they will be put into service on Prague – Brno – Bratislava – Budapest route.
“In the coming years we need to renew our fleet that meets the highest demands. To be prepared for this development, we have decided to launch the tender for the supply of up to 50 such cars,” ČD General Manager Pavel Krtek said.
The third tender involves the acquisition of 30 DMUs, able to run at 140 km/h. the value of the tender is CZK 4 billion (EUR 148 million).
Depending on the characteristics of the lines, these units will have different configurations, with two or three cars, with a minimum capacity of 120 respectively 180 seats.
