The tender for awarding a concession contract for the operation of an intermodal terminal in Plovdiv has been halted due to a complaint submitted to the country’s competition regulator, according to the Bulgarian Transport Ministry. Bulgarian-based company Transmodal has submitted the complaint to the Commission for Protection of Competition.
In November, Bulgaria launched a tender for granting a 27-year concession of the intermodal terminal that offers opportunities for combined road/rail cargo transport.
The construction of the terminal cost 13.94 million levs (7.12 million euros) and took about two and a half years to complete. The project was financed from EU funds and the state budget.
