CRRC Puzhen Bombardier Transportation Systems (PBTS) will deliver 19 Innovia APM 300R cars for Singapore’s Bukit-Panjang Light Rapid Transit. The agreement also includes the provision of commissioning and quality assurance services.
All the production and commissioning will be completed by PBTS Wuhu facility.
The delivery of the new cars will start in September 2020 and will be completed in October 2022. The existing 30 Innovia APM 100 will be replaced by new 300R vehicles.
They will be deployed on an elevated urban rail transit loop in Bukit Panjang, with two stations being connected to Singapore metro network. The line crosses a highly densely populated area in Singapore.
In 2018, Singapore’s Transport Minister announced that the Bukit Panjang LRT will enter four-year overhaul activities to replace the existing signalling system and to install new and improved vehicles. The existing signalling system is to be replaced with the Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC) signalling system, provided by Bombardier, under a SGD 344 million (USD 249.5 million) contract.
The 19 LRVs that provided transport services started operations in 1999 will be replaced, and the 13 additional vehicles that enters services in 2015 will be upgraded.
