Bombardier and Turkey’s rolling stock manufacturer Bozankaya signed a MoU and agreed a joint tender to produce 80 high-speed trains for the state-owned TCDD.
If the partnership will be successful by winning the contract, Bombardier will invest USD 100 million to set up a new production facility in Turkey and of course, will transfer the technology to Bozankaya.
Turkey plans to purchase 106 high-speed trains as it expands the national high-speed rail network.
According to Turkish Railways (TCDD) there are plans to increase the high speed railway core network to 3.623 kilometers. With the completion of Ankara – Izmir high speed rail project, half of the country’s population will have benefited from the high-speed train. 80 percent of the rail network will be more integrated into the international system and will also be electrified. Priority lines will be modernized and a double line will be constructed, moreover, this line will increase the freight and passengers transport.
