Bryansk Engineering Plant (BMZ), part of Transmashholding, has shipped 25 mainline freight locomotives 2TE25КМ to RZD. This is the first batch of locomotives shipped by BMZ to RZD this year.
The Class 2TE25КМ locomotive is the first Russian diesel locomotive compliant to the newly applied Technical Regulations of the Customs Union. 90% of its components and systems are of Russian origin. As compared to mass-produced diesel locomotives, 2TE25КМ has some advantages, among which the ability to haul heavier trains and lower operating costs. The engine capacity utilization factor has also been increased, as well as the weight on driving axles.
Under the contract signed in late March 2016, a total of 100 class 2TE25КМ, 4 class 2TE25А mainline diesel locomotives and 83 TEM18DM shunting locomotives will be delivered to RZD by the end of this year.
