Ursula Wyss, the director of Bernmobil, the public transport company of Bern, and Stadler delegation, led by Peter Spuhler, the President of the Board of Directors, have signed the contract for the supply of 27 Tramlink LRVs, with a value of EUR 114 million (CHF 125 million).
The signed contract follows the announcement made in September, when Bernmobil declared Stadler the winner of the contract for 50 trams, with an innittial order for 27 Tramlink LRVs.
Under the agreement, Stadler will deliver 20 bidirectional and 7 unidirectional Tramlink vehicles. Between 2023 and 2025, these vehicles will replace the 12 Vevey and 9 RBS trams which will have reached the end of their service life. The trams for the extension of line 9 to Kleinwabern and more frequent services on line 9 will also form part of this delivery.
Bernmobil will order additional vehicles for the extension of the tram fleet for Tram Bern Ostermundigen and for the expansion of the services from 2027 onwards.
