Metrovagonmash and Baku Metro signed a contract for the supply of 30 metro cars for the Azerbaijan capital. Under the contract, the 6 five-car metro trains will be delivered by the end of 2019.
Compared to the previous models, the new cars will have larger doors and they will be fitted with passenger information system, air conditioning system and power sockets and special places for wheelchairs and bicycles.
Baku’s subway will receive new train models, produced since 2017. Compared to previous generations, they have wider doorways and a pass-through design.
81-765.B/766.B-type trains utilize a new system to alert passengers of opening and closing of the doors. The contemporary design of carriages assumes advanced noise and heat insulation, quality air conditioning, power outlets for charging of electronic devices. The head cars will have areas for wheelchairs and bicycles.
Today, Baku’s Metro has over 300 metro cars manufactured at the plant in Mytishi. In 2015, Transmashholding shipped 3 five-unit metro trains 81-765.B/766.B with a pass-through design. In 2018, TMH shipped two metro trains 81-765/766.
