The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) of launching and equipping the first international tourist train of Iran and Austria was signed between Fadak economical group (as the Iranian side) and three noted Austrian tourism companies.
The project – dubbed Shokooh Pars Tourism Train – was awarded to the consortium by Iran’s Railway Network and officials say the ultimate goal is to encourage tourism train trips by the Iranians, presstv.ir informs.
Based on a EUR25-million deal that was signed to the same effect, three major Austrian tourism companies will provide basic training as well as the necessary basic logistics support for the service.
The Austrian President Heinz Fischer paid an official visit to Iran accompanied by a 230-strong delegation of senior business executives, with the purpose of discussing ways to improve Tehran-Vienna relations.
Iran is a lucrative tourist market for Europe as more companies move forward to promote travel to the Middle Eastern country including The Golden Eagle Luxury Trains, a UK-based train travel company, which has managed to launch three tourism train tours to Iran.
