Turkey’s Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım and Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Melih Gökçek have participated in a test run of the Ankara’s Keçioren metro line. The 9.2 km line was put into operation on 31 August. The project needed a EUR 295.5 million investment.
“We’ve gathered in Keçiören Square for the first movement of the metro,” Gökçek said.
The Keçiören 9.2 km line has nine stations between the Atatürk Culture Center (AKM) and Keçiören.
The authorities plan to extend the metro network by 27 km to Çubuk and will add 3.5 km from Atatürk Culture Center to Kızılay Square.
The length of the rail system will reach a total of 64 km when the construction of the Keçiören metro is finalised, and it will have 50-60 stations.
