Alstom wins signalling contract for five stations on Buenos Aires suburban line

Alstom signed a EUR 16 million contract to modify the current signalling system at five stations on the Belgrano Norte suburban line in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The stations to have a new signalling system are Ciudad Universitaria, Aristóbulo del Valle, Munro, Boulogne Sur Mer and Grand Bourg.
Under the contract, Alstom will provide, install, test and commission relay interlocking, point machines, signals, local and remote control posts, track circuits and power supply systems.
The work forms part of the renovation of 22 stations on the line, a project with a total investment of approximately EUR 87 million by Trenes Argentinos Infraestructura, under the National Transportation Ministry.
The 54-km Belgrano Norte line is one of the 7 suburban train lines of the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires. Currently, it provides passenger service between the Retiro and Villa Rosa stations, with 22 stations crossing the City of Buenos Aires and Vicente López, San Isidro, General San Martín, Tigre, Malvinas Argentinas and Pilar. The service is provided by suburban cars towed by diesel-electric locomotives and has been operated by Ferrovías since 1994.
