The newly established consortium aims to drive innovation in the transport and logistics sector by promoting advanced digital solutions abroad and in Italy
Rome/London, February 3th, 2025 – Italian digital innovation group Almaviva and FS Group, a national and international multimodal mobility leader, have launched The Sagitta Consortium (“Sagitta”) to promote advanced digital solutions in the transport and logistics sector on a global scale and to accelerate the development of the digital infrastructure supporting strategic sectors in Italy. The Consortium builds upon the agreement signed one year ago by the same parties.
Sagitta will offer cutting-edge digital solutions shaping the future of mobility – including Traffic Planning & Management, Transport Planning & Management, Digital Twin & State Health Monitoring Infrastructure, Multimodal Integrated Mobility (including Mobility As a Service – MaaS), Ticketing, and Infomobility – in numerous markets such as Europe, North America, Latin America, the Middle East, North Africa, and India.
In Italy, the Consortium will spearhead projects supporting strategic sectors focusing on the development and management of digital platforms enhancing sustainable mobility, tourism, transport infrastructure monitoring and intermodal logistics.
“The FS Group manages a complex and multifaceted infrastructure, both physical and digital. Bringing these two aspects together and ensuring they are coordinated is becoming an increasingly challenging goal for us,” explains Massimiliano Garri, Chief Technology, Innovation & Digital Officer of the FS Group. “With the establishment of the Sagitta Consortium, in collaboration with a leading Information & Communication Technology partner like Almaviva, we have the opportunity to effectively unite these two dimensions. Our focus is on activating digital platforms capable of concretely improving the movement of people and goods, aiming for increasingly integrated and sustainable mobility.”
“Fully aware of the value of Italian technology and its global competitiveness, we proudly embark on a new shared challenge with FS Group, an international champion of sustainable mobility. This initiative strengthens a decades-long collaboration which, with the creation of the Sagitta Consortium, evolves to meet the opportunities of the global transport and logistics sector by offering unique, advanced and distinctive solutions such as our Moova platform, already active in technologically advanced markets across the globe,” commented Marco Tripi, CEO of Almaviva. “Sagitta’s mission is to export Italian excellence in line with the latest developments in European interoperability.”
Sagitta will enable FS Group to consolidate its role in exporting Italian excellence, promoting more efficient, effective and sustainable transport solutions for people and goods that benefit the whole community.
Similarly, Almaviva will leverage the Consortium to accelerate its international expansion by exporting its state-of-the-art technology, including Moova, its proprietary platform for integrated mobility. The initiative will foster sustainable transport modes, tourism, infrastructure monitoring (railways and roads), intermodal logistics and more functional services for travelers.
Francesco De Leo, Chief Global Strategy & International Officer of the FS Group, has been appointed as Chairman of the Consortium, while Smeraldo Fiorentini, Deputy CEO of Almaviva’s Transportation & Logistics Division, has been named Managing Director.
