The European Commission positively assessed all applications submitted by Polish Railways under the CEF second call. EU will support 10 projects that have a total value of PLN 7 billion (EUR 1.6 billion).
The investments that have been approved by the European Commission are:
• The modernisation of Czyżew – Bialystok section on E75 line; the value of the project is EUR 397,4 million that includes a EUR 302.8 million planned for funding from the CEF;
• The modernisation of Zabrze – Katowice – Krakow section on E30 line; the value of the project is EUR 529 million of which EUR 410.2 million is the planned CEF financing
• The modernisation of Krakow Central Freight –Rudzice section on E30 Line; the total value of the project is EUR 396 million, including a EUR 320 million under CEF
• Works on 14 and 811 lines on the Łódź Kaliska – Zduńska Wola – Ostrów Wielkopolski section, stage I: Łódź Kaliska – Zduńska Wola. The value of the project is EUR 113 million of which EUR 73 million is the CEF planned financing
• The project for the improving of rail access to port of Gdynia is EUR 191 million, with a EUR 162.2 million under CEF planned financing
• The improving rail access to sea ports in Szczecin and Swinoujscie is another project with a EUR 143.7 million needed investment, of which EUR 122 millin are requested under CEF
• The improvement of rail access to port of Gdańsk has a value of EUR 141.5 million of which EUR 115.7 million is the planned CEF financing
• Works on E 20 Line on Siedlce – Terespol, stage III – LCS Terespol needs a EUR 131 million financing, and the CEF request is EUR 109.5 million
• EUR 22.5 million is necessary for the electrification of 274 and 278 lines, on Węgliniec – Zgorzelec section; the CEF planned financing is EUR 19.1 million
• EUR 8.9 million are needed for the preliminary design on works related to passenger transport for the E 30 and E 65 in Silezia area, stage I on Bedzin – Katowice – Tychy – Czechowice Dziedzice section. The CEF requested funding is EUR 7.6 million
Under the first CEF call, Polish Railways received PLN 7.5 billion (EUR 1.7 billion) for the implementation of 7 railway projects, including next stage of modernization of the railway line from Warsaw to Bialystok and from Wroclaw to Poznan and modernisation of the Warsaw – Poznan and Poznan – Szczecin.
