Adif has approved the three electrification and signalling contracts on the Ourense-Monforte de Lemos-Lugo railway line, with a total investment of EUR 83 million. Before signing the contracts, the Spanish infrastructure manager is waiting for the authorisation provided by the Council of Ministers.
The contracts also include the construction of the traction electrical substation of Oural (Lugo) and the necessary auto-transformation centers for the entire route.
The largest contract, with a value of EUR 43.4 million, consists of the improvement of signalling and telecommunication system on the Monforte – Lugo section.
A EUR 21.3 million contract envisages electrification works between Monforte de Lemos and Lugo Mercancías terminal, on the Monforte de Lemos-Betanzos section, with a length of 70 km. The contract includes electrification works at seven stations (Rubián, Oural, Sarria, San Xian, Laxosa, Lugo and Lugo Mercancías). The line will be equipped with 25kV ac electrification system.
The EUR 18.4 million contract envisages the construction of the Oural traction substation and of the auto-transformation centers on the Ourense – Monforte de Lemos – Lugo line. These elements are necessary for the implementation of the 25kV electrification.
After the completion of electrification works and signalling improvement, the line will allow trains to run at speeds of 160 km/h.
