Russian Railways and Chongqing city, China, intend to establish a regular container train along the route Chongqing – Zabaikalsk – Russian cities, which will increase traffic and trade between China and Russia.
This was announced during a meeting between RZD CEO, Oleg Belozerov, and Tang Lianzhi, the Chairman of the People’s Government of Chongqing.
To increase transit volumes from Russia to China, RZD Holding and Chinese partners will explore the possibility of creating a joint distribution centre in Russia for a more efficient processing of the increasing freight volumes, including electronic items.
According to the parties, improving the competitiveness of rail transport will also help improve the process of passing through customs procedures.
The volume of containerised transit between the two countries recorded an increase of 80% in 2017.
