A new container train on China-Europe route

A shipment of a container train from Changsha, in China, to Tilburg, in the Netherlands, was launched by RZD Logistics, with the aim at twice services per month on this route. The expected transit time is 16 days.
The project is implemented under a cooperation with a Chinese platform company Hunan Xiangou Express.
The train consisting of 41 40-foot containers with fast moving consumer goods (clothes, accessories, office supplies) departed from Changsha station and will go to Tilburg across Mongolia, Russia, Belarus and Germany.
“Today we see that Changsha is gradually transforming into the center for the consolidation of cargo from Central China. It has good perspectives of growth, due to the development of certain sectors of economy. Tilburg, on the other hand, is the Netherlands’ second largest transport logistics hub, equipped with modern infrastructure necessary for handling large cargo flows coming by transit trains. By means of connecting these two cities, a new service will definitely contribute to the development of Russia’s transit potential,” Olga Stepanova, Sales Director of RZD Logistics, said.
In the first 6 months of 2017, RZD Logistics, with its subsidiary company Far East Land Bridge (FELB), increased the volume of container shipping in comparison to the same period of the last year. The volume increased by 1,8 and amounted to 63,2 thsd TEU and the most part (55, 9 thsd TEU) represented transit shipments across Europe-China-Europe.
