Laude Smart Intermodal, a Polish transport operator, awarded United Wagon Company a contract for the supply of 200 flat cars to transport containers on Poland – Russia route.
The first batch of flat cars will be delivered by the end of May, being added to the UWC-manufactured existing fleet which will rise to 841 units following this contract. The fleet will consist of 641 of model 13-6851-01 flat cars for use on the 1,520-mm network, with 200 Sgmmns flat cars for the 1,435-mm gauge lines.
The ordered flat cars have a length of 40 feet (12m) and are designed to transport heavy-duty containers and tank containers carrying non-hazardous cargoes with a gross weight of up to 40 tonnes in different size categories.
The flat car is noted for its increased loading capacity of 80 tonnes and its maximum tare weight of 20 tonnes. The reinforced design of the frame and the container locks allow for the transport of containers with a gross weight of up to 40 tonnes.
This model has a service life of 40 years, with an increased operational reliability due to the bogies model, and a maintenance interval up to 1 million km (or 8 years), reducing the operational costs.
