PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe and Porr signed a EUR 88 million (PLN 374 million) contract to modernise the Krzyż – Dobiegniew section on the E59 railway line.
Under the contract, Porr will modernise 47 km of track and 6 level crossings and will construct 12 points and the engineering structures, of which 15 culverts, nine bridges and nine viaducts. In addition, the contract also covers the reconstruction of an overhead line along the entire construction section and the construction of 6 barrier-free viaducts.
The construction works will be launched in the first quarter of 2020 and will be completed in fourth quarter of 2022.
The investment project with a total value of EUR 331 million (PLN 1.4 billion) will allow passenger trains to travel along the E59 railway line at speeds of up to 160 km/h and freight trains at speeds of up to 120 km/h from 2022. This will reduce the travel time from the capital of Greater Poland to West Pomerania by 50 minutes and will significantly improve the infrastructural framework for freight transport in West Pomerania.
