China’s Ministry of Transport has announced that a CNY 800 billion (USD 114.3 billion) investment is expected to be provided for railway projects in 2020.
In addition to the railway investment, the USD 386 billion investment plan also includes USD 257 billion for road and waterways networks, the country will strive to cover 98 percent of its countryside with delivery networks.
China exceeded its target for the year in railway construction. It has 139,000 km of railways in operation, of which 35,000 km network is represented by the high-speed railway.
In 2019, China has invested CNY 3.2 trillion (USD 457 billion) in transport projects. According to estimations, 8,000 km of railway lines were put into commercial operation.
