CRRC has successfully rolled the first six-car train for Xiamen Metro Line 3, comprising four powered vehicles and two trailer cars.
The Type B train is able to run at speeds of 80 km/h and has a capacity for up to 2,062 passengers.
The interior of the train incorporates many of Xiamen’s icons and elements, such as the seats that were inspired by waves surrounding the port city.
The cars also all adopt the new-generation non-contact Logic Control Unit (LCU) technology, which improves vehicle safety and reliability.
This year, Xiamen Rail Transit Group awarded CRRC Changchun a contract for the supply of 43 trains which will enter operation on the Line 3.
The 36-km metro line will connect city’s main railway station with the new Xiang‘an International Airport, planned to be opened in 2023. The Line 3 will have 26 stations, with 3 elevated and 23 underground stations.
