Škoda Transportation has won the contract for the supply of 26 bi-directional trams to Bonn. The contract, which also includes supply of spare parts for 25 years, has a value of CZK 4 billion (EUR 157.17 million). The first trams will enter commercial operation in 2022.
The trams for Bonn, based on Škoda ForCity Smart platform, are three-section, 100% low-floor vehicles with swivel bogies. Comfortable operation is enabled by full vehicle adhesion, which ensures reliable driving characteristics even in bad weather.
The tram will be 30 meters long and will accommodate 180 passengers.
The comfortable spacious barrier-free vehicles have two large multifunctional spaces for wheelchairs, prams, or bicycles. The new trams will also offer a straightforward information system with screens and panels, as well as a camera system, which will significantly contribute to ensuring traffic safety and preventing vandalism.
“We are increasing our capacity to optimize our fleet, improve the quality of our services and increase passenger comfort. The new contract with our partner, Škoda Transportation, will significantly reduce maintenance costs and increase the reliability of our urban tram lines,” said the representatives of Bonn public transport company.
