By 2023, Moscow will have 47 new metro stations, with six of them scheduled to be opened by the end of December and another 41 between 2020 and 2023, announced the Deputy Moscow Mayor for Urban Development and Construction, Marat Khusnullin.
Under the project, more than 100 km of metro lines is to be laid between 2020 and 2023, with 41 stations and 5 electric train maintenance facilities opened.
“Apart from the Big Circle Line’s construction, we are to extend Kalininsko-Solntsevskaya line to Vnukovo station, Lyublinsko-Dmitrovskaya line to Fiztekh station, and Sokolnicheskaya line to Potapovo station,” Marat Khusnullin explained.
According to the Deputy Moscow Mayor, construction of radial metro lines, Biryulevskaya, Kommunarskaya and Rublevo-Arkhangelskaya, is to launch soon.
Since 2011, the Moscow metro has become 45 percent longer, with more than 150 km of metro and MCC lines built, and over 80 stations opened.
More than 4 million passengers now enjoy metro within walking distance. In 2018, the metro system provided transport services for 2.5 billion passengers.
