ČD Cargo took the delivery of the prototype of Class 742.71 EffiShunter 1000M locomotive which is the modernised version of the 742.71x locomotive made by CZ Loko. Series production will take place in 2020-2022.
The prototype is part of a contract signed in 2018 for the supply of 50 locomotives for shunting and medium line duties operations. The value of the contract is CZK 1 billion (EUR 39 million).
“The EffiShunter 1000-M is technically based on the EffiShunter 600 series but it has many changes which can state that is a new product. Practically, we have built our EffiShunter 1000 on the platform of the original Class 742 locomotives,” Jan Kutálek, Sales Director of CZ Loko said.
The locomotive is equipped with modern systems such as on-line monitoring and diagnostics, control systems, security cameras.
The locomotive 742.711 underwent a series of key tests on the Velim test circuit and on-site verification is currently taking place. Upon its completion in January of next year, it is expected that the series will be definitively approved, culminating in the issuance of a type certificate and a rail vehicle certificate. CZ Loko expects that will modernise one or two locomotives per month.
The locomotive has Caterpillar engine, allowing a power increase from 833 to 1000 kW. The 70-tonnes locomotive is equipped with ECTS.
