Bombardier Inc. will lay off half of its 1,100 employees in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
The information came from a governmental source, according to lethbridgenewsnow.com. By the end of the year, two major contracts, one with Toronto Transit Commission for trams and one with Metrolinx Go Transit for metro trains will have to be honoured.
The head of a local union, Dominic Pasqualino, said he feared layoffs would continue after the first 550 employees would be dismissed.
