Demikhovsky Machine Building Plant, part of Transmashholding, will modernise 16 class ED4M and ED4MK electric trains of Russian Railways. Under the contract, the modernized trains will be delivered in August 2019.
The ED4M and ED4MK train series were built in 2001–2009 at Demikhovsky Machine Building Plant.
The project envisages a complete restoration of the worn units, bi redesigning the interior, replacing the seat trim, repairing or installing new equipment, and new windows. Th driver’s cab will also be completely change, as it will be equipped with control panel, and new and ergonomic layout.
The car bodies will receive a fresh color in the corporate colors of Russian Railways.
In 2018, RZD modenised other 24 ED4M and ED4MK trains.
These electric trains are designed to carry passengers by suburban transit system on electrified section of lines with 1,520 mm track gauge and 3000 V DC systems.
