Rusia to complete Nagpur-Secunderabad feasibility study

Russian Railways entered the third and final stage in the preparation of a feasibility study to increase the speed on India’s Nagpur-Secunderabad railway line. The stretch has a length of 575 km with a maximum design speed of 200 km/h.
“We expect that the Indian side will decide on the conditions for the further implementation of the project and the participation of the RZD in the very near future. A possible solution in this situation is to conclude an intergovernmental agreement on joint support for the project, which the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation has proposed to India,” said Alexander Misharin, First Deputy Managing Director of Russian Railways.
The study will be completed at the end of 2019
The elaboration of the Nagpur-Secunderabad feasibility study is based on an agreement between Russian Railways and Indian Railways. The two companies also collaborate on the development of a regular freight rail traffic along North-South International Transport Corridor.
For the project, RZD Logistics has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Concor Corp, the largest container operator on Indian Railways. At the moment, the parties are working on logistic schemes and tariff parameters of future freight traffic.
