TSA has been selected to supply Traktionssysteme Austria’s sound-optimized next generation traction motors for Amsterdam new metro trains manufactured by CAF.
The energy efficiency of the drives was improved in order to meet the high standards, in particular the requirements regarding the low weight and the smooth maintenance.
The M7 metros will be equipped for semi-automatic operation which will be replaced by unattended operation in the future. The 60-m-long trains are prepared for driverless operation, being able to run at speeds of 80 km/h.
Entry into service is planned for mid-2021.
In November, Amsterdam public transport company GVB and CAF signed a contract for the supply of 30 metro train with an option for additional 30 type M7 trainsets, with an optional extension of the ordered metros from 3-cars to 6-cars.
The new trains are based on Inneo platform, CAF´s range of metro units equipped with the latest technological advances in terms of safety, performance and comfort.
