MyHSR seeks KL – Singapore commercial consultant

MyHSR Corporation, responsible for the Kuala Lumpur – Singapore HSR, announced a tender to appoint a commercial advisory consultant for the project. The winner will develop an updated ridership demand projection and revenue model, will review of the preliminary project structure and the development of alternative project structures, and will support MyHSR Corp in financial and commercial discussions with relevant stakeholders. The consultant will be also required the development of an updated project benefits assessment, based on the project’s technical and commercial configuration.
In September 2018, the governments of Malaysia and Singapore had agreed to suspend the construction of the Kuala Lumpur – Singapore high-speed line until 31 May 2020, while finding the best option for the project’s implementation. Under this agreement, Malaysia has been reviewing the project in order to identify cost reduction options, such as reviewing and optimising the alignment, station locations, and business model. In April, MyHSR Corp called a tender to appoint consultants to assist on technical matters, which “has received encouraging interest and support from the market,” MyHSR CEO, Mohd Nur Ismal bin Mohamed Kamal, said.
The tender on the technical advisory consultant is ongoing and is expected to be completed in June.
After the winners of the tenders will be announced, a comprehensive project review exercise will be completed, and a report will then be prepared and submitted to the Government, prior to the end of the suspension period in May 2020.
