Kosovo rail infrastructure manager, Infrakos, has selected Italian company Generale Costruzioni Ferroviarie (GCF) to upgrade Fushe Kosova-Hani i Elezit rail section. The contract is worth EUR 210 million.

Rail Route 10 will provide a direct connection between the existing 252-km long railway starting from Kraljevo, Serbia, via Pristina, Kosovo, to Gjorce Petrov city in the Republic of North Macedonia.
148-km of the whole railway cross Kosovo from Leshak, near the Serbian border, to Hani i Elezit, near the border with the Republic of North Macedonia.
Modernisation works will take 24 months, and, under the schedule, they should be completed in 2021, Kosovo Government announced.
The project financing will be ensured by the Government using a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), as well as ISPA funds.
“This project has a positive impact not just for the country’s economy, but also for the entire region”, pointed out Agron Thaci, Chief Executive InfraKos.
