PKP Polish Railway Lines and Intop Warszawa- Serso consortium signed a EUR 10.5 million (PLN 45 million) contract financed from its own budget for the reconstruction of four viaducts on Central Railway Line from Warsaw towards Krakow and Katowice. Works are planned to start in February and will be completed at the end of this year.
On the Idzikowice – Opoczno Południe section. 4 overpasses and 10 culverts will be rebuilt. PKP PLK signed a contract for the modernisation of 14 facilities on the route connecting Opoczno Południe and Idzikowice stations. The facilities will be adapted for trains running with speeds of 200 km/h (currently the allow only a max. speed of 160 km/h).
The project also includes the modernisation of Idzikowice station that will be adapted for trains running at speeds of 200 km/h and ultimately 230/250 km/h. Freight trains will travel at a speed of 120 km/h. On the Central Railway Line, modernisation works is are completed at Opoczno Południe station.
The whole project that involves the modernisation of 14 engineering facilities is carried out under the second phase of Central Railway Line modernisation project.
Alfter all works will be completed, the Central Railway Line will benefit of an increased capacity and safety and enhancing rail connection from the south of Poland to the capital.
