Greater Nancy awards Keolis the public transport operation contract

The Metropolitan Council of Greater Nancy awarded Keolis a six-year contract for the operation of its public transport network. Starting 1 January 2019, Keolis will operate and manage the Métropole’s multimodal transport services called ‘Stan’ which includes tram, bus, electric shuttle services, transport on demand, transport for passengers with reduced mobility, and park-and-ride facilities.
On urban rail transport, Keolis’ proposal envisages the transformation of the tram network from rubber-tyred to steel wheels. By the end of 2023, the steel-wheeled tram will be launched.
Keolis will provide Greater Nancy with a new integrated network, using the synergies between the various transport modes and the region’s different networks. The goal is to create seamless connections between Nancy and the various communes of the Métropole.
The key improvements to services will commence in September 2019, with Keolis’ proposal to improve the services provided by the existing rubber-tyred tram line and the three BRT lines that also currently serve the major facilities in the city and more than half of all residents.
Keolis has proposed solutions for an extended timetable that will meet communes’ transport demand and it also has plans to improve links to other key transport services. These include better connections with train services and improvements to the operation of park-and-ride facilities to simplify access.
Keolis will manage and operate a network comprising 32 tram and bus lines, served by 225 vehicles and 10 park-and-ride facilities. 115,000 journeys are the daily ridership in Greater Nancy which comprises 20 communes and 250,000 inhabitants.
