On 8 November, Romanian private railway operator Astra Trans Carpatic launched a new passenger train service on Arad-Oradea route. The electric multiple-units will run on Arad – Santana – Chisineu Cris – Ciumeghiu Hm. – Salonta – Oradea route and back.
According to the timetable, on 8-14 November, the train will leave Arad at 8:53 am and will arrive in Oradea at 11:17 am. Then, it will leave Oradea at 11:26 and return to Arad at 13:24.
The programme is temporary as the train service will be extended, most probably starting with 14 November. Tickets can also be bought online.
The company operates with multiple-units that provide passengers with conditions at European standards. The cars are equipped with passenger information systems, audio-video entertainment systems, internet, sockets, as well as efficient air-conditioning and heating installations. Moreover, the train is equipped with GPS for monitoring on the route.
The company bought 15 such multiple-units from Danish Railways (DSB), following an investment of EUR 20 million.
The other trains will be put into operation gradually until April 2019.
In February 2017, Astra Trans Carpatic launched Arad-Bucharest and return route and in the summer of the same year, the company inaugurated a transport service on Arad-Mangalia route.
Currently, the company operates on Constanta – Bucuresti Nord – Craiova – Timisoara – Arad, Bucuresti Nord – Brasov and Timisoara – Baia Mare routes, the last one being launched on 8 September.
