Eurosib, a Russian transport and logistics company, and UWC signed a contract for the supply of 500 high-capacity container platforms which will be built at Tikhvin Freight Car Building Plant production facility.
The company will receive 270 freight cars before the end of this year, with the delivery of the first 30 platforms expected in June.
The 25-tf bogie rolling stock being purchased is the only model on the market with a length of 80 feet and a carrying capacity of 74.5 tonnes, providing the capability for simultaneous transport of two large-capacity containers with a gross mass of up to 36 tonnes each. Freight cars’ technical characteristics allow up to 11 extra tonnes of cargo to be loaded on the platform.
Eurosib has about 10 domestic and export-import routes, as well as regular China – Europe – China transit through Russia and Mongolia’s border crossings.
Eurosib began to form its new generation cargo fleet in 2014 with the delivery of 285 wagons produced by TVSZ and currently is ranked among the largest players in the market of innovative container platforms. It provides a full range of services for the organization of transport of industrial cargo for key industries in Russia and abroad. The company manages 13,400 railcars, 4 locomotives and a logistics terminal complex in Novosibirsk.
