DMZ to supply EMUs to Volga Vyatka

Demikhovo Machine Building Plant (DMZ), part of Transmashholding, signed an agreement with Volga Vyatka suburban passenger company for the supply of five 4-coach EP3D AC EMUs. The trains will be able to be operated in a multiple unit system. The EMUs are scheduled to be delivered to the customer in December 2018.
EP3D is a completely Russian design, consisting almost 100 percent of domestic components. The trains meet the most up-to-date international operational safety requirements for multiple units. The EMU is distinguished by a modern exterior design (smooth body, new front part) and is equipped with a pre-crash system, HVAC system with air conditioning and disinfection functions, information system, as well as environment friendly toilet modules. The design applies advanced technical solutions to make the journey safe and comfortable for all passengers, including disabled people. EP3D trains are equipped with lifters for wheelchairs, and all information plates are duplicated in braille.
The owning cost of the new EP3D during the life cycle, which is 40 years, is therefore 20-50 percent lower, compared to the rolling stock of the previous series. Savings are achieved with a set of electrical equipment with low energy consumption and low-maintenance units.
