Vinci subsidiary wins contract for Stuttgart-Ulm HSR

Deutsche Bahn has awarded work project 1.4 to Vinci Construction Terrassement for the high-speed rail line that will connect Stuttgart, the capital of Baden-Württemberg, to Ulm, in Germany.
The EUR 55 million contract involves building the section of railway between Stuttgart Airport and the city of Wendlingen. Works include 5.4 km of earthworks and drainage, 7.5 km of siding and 8,500 square meters of noise barriers. The section will take 24 months to build.
The contract comes under the Stuttgart 21 project, which is designed to relieve traffic congestion and upgrade the railway junction in Stuttgart (access and lines), by turning the city’s existing infrastructure into an underground pass-through train station.
