Spain interested in Moscow-Kazan HSR project

Spanish officials expressed interest in participating in the implementation of the Moscow-Kazan high-speed railway (HSR) project, the Russian Ministry of Transport said, Tass reports.
“State Secretary for Transport, Infrastructure and Residential Housing of Spain Julio Gomez-Pomar informed Russian Deputy Minister of Transport Alan Lushnikov about Spain’s interest in participating in the Moscow – Kazan HSR project,” the statement of the Ministry of Transport reads. This statement was made following a meeting between Alan Lushnikov and Julio Gomez Pomar held at the 2018 Middle East Rail exhibition.
“The project is very important for Russia because we understand the advantages of a high-speed traffic. We are completing the engineering of a section from Moscow to Kazan while some sections have already been designed,” Alan Lushnikov said. He added that the project should be “technologically neutral”.
Apart from that, Spanish authorities are interested in a joint implementation of the Middle East projects with their Russian counterparts.
The Moscow-Kazan high speed railway line’s total length will stand at 772 kilometers. Trains will be designed for speeds of 350-400 kilometers per hour. The journey time between the two cities will be reduced to 3-3.5 hours compared to the current 14 hours.
