The Serbian Infrastructure Ministry, jointly with the Croatian government, intends to seek financing from the European Union towards the cost of a project for the overhaul of the Belgrade-Zagreb railway line. The 412 km-long Belgrade-Zagreb railway line is part of pan-European Transport Corridor X.
During a meeting in Zagreb, Serbian Infrastructure Minister Zorana Mihajlovic and her Croatian counterpart Oleg Butkovic agreed on the framework of a draft document for cooperation on the project. On the territory of Serbia, the project envisages the reconstruction of both tracks of the Golubinac-Sid section of the railway line, as well as the overhaul of the Ruma-Sid section, at a total cost of about EUR 250 million.
