From the first quarter of 2019, a new high-speed service at lower prices, EVA, will be available on the Barcelona-Madrid line. The services will offer more versatility and prices cheaper by 20-25% than those for the existing AVE service. Train operator RENFE said that the new EVA service will be highly digitised, offer improved workspaces and should appeal to families and the younger generation.
There will be no physical ticket for EVA trains, only digital. Passengers will have access to WiFi and online communications. An app will inform travellers on the progress of the journey. In addition, the trains will be designed to adapt to different types of travel, with spaces for mini-groups (2, 4 or 6 people) and more work areas. Passengers can also select door-to-door journeys with a single integrated ticket including taxi, metro, bus or rental car.
The new service will be subsequently introduced on other routes.
