Green tickets will be introduced in Sofia to encourage people to leave their cars and use public transport on days with high concentration of fine particulate matter. The measure was adopted by Sofia Municipal Council on 25 January.
The ticket price is 1.00 BGN (EUR 0.5). Tickets will be valid for one day and for the whole public transport network. The tickets will be available both on board public transport vehicles, and at the offices for the sale of public transport cards and tickets and the metro.
The City Mobility Center (CGM) will also introduce additional vehicles on public transport lines in periods of severe air pollution.
