The Transport minister of Saudi Arabia, Nabeel al-Amudi, said that opportunities are coming up for international investment in the country’s rail infrastructure. Talks with major firms about two different types of contract for rail infrastructure have already been initiated, he said at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland.
According to Nabeel al-Amudi, the contracts will be announced in the next few months. One contract concerns the operation and maintenance for existing lines, and there will be PPP agreements on new railways, including the Saudi Landbridge Project, the railway line that will connect Jeddah on the Red Sea coast with Saudi Arabia’s capital Riyadh.
