Metrovagonmash, part of Transmashholding, finalized the delivery of the last 8 metro cars to Nizhny Novgorod Metro. The contract for the delivery of 81-717.6/714.6 metro cars was concluded with Sberbank Leasing in November 2017. The cost of the rolling stock amounted to about RUB 1.3 billion (EUR 18.7 million).
In total, 23 metros (10 head cars and 13 intermediary ones) were delivered to Nizhny Novgorod. The 81-717.6 and 81-714.6 cars were built on the basis of previous 81-717.5/81-714.5 models. They meet the most strict requirements on passenger transportation safety. Video surveillance system, forced overhead ventilation enabling air exchange not only on the move, but also during stops, are installed in saloons. Luminescent lamps of the so called “light line” type are applied for lighting. An emergency exit is provided in the front part of the cabin. A vibration absorbing and air-adjustable driver’s seat is used to ensure for driver’s labour conditions meeting modern requirements.
Metrovagonmash has been cooperating with Nizhny Novgorod Metro since its establishment in 1985. In total, Nizhny Novgorod Metro operates 27 81-717.6/714.6 cars and 64 cars of the 81-717.5/714.5 model.
