The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development announced that is launching a tender for consultancy services for two railway infrastructure projects in Macedonia. The consultant will monitor implementation of the rail infrastructure projects and provide, when required, advice to the EBRD on any corrective actions which may need to be taken in response to specific issues which may threaten the successful implementation of the projects.
The assignment that is expected to start in Q1 2018 has an estimated overall duration of 48 months and a value of EUR 250,000 exclusive of VAT.
EBRD has extended two sovereign loans to Macedonia to be on-lent to Public Enterprise for Railway Infrastructure, in a total amount of EUR 46.4 million and EUR 145 million respectively, for the rehabilitation of a 30.8 km section of Corridor VIII in the east of the country.
The two projects are implemented in two phases. The first phase involves the construction of a new Kumanovo Belakovce railway line and the reconstruction of the existing one on the railway line between Beljakovce and Kriva Palanka. The projects provide financing for the first and second phase of the eastern section of the Pan-European Rail Corridor VIII within Macedonia. The projects are at a different stage of implementation. While the first phase the procurement process is completed and the contract is awarded, the contractor for the works for Phase Two of the project is currently being selected.
To that end, the consultant will undertake the specific tasks for each phase.
