The Croatian infrastructure manager, HŽ Infrastruktura, announced that four bids were submitted for the Port of Rijeka multimodal platform development project, estimated at HRK 237 million (EUR 31.45 million).
The total value of the project is EUR 35.6 million, of which HŽ Infrastruktura share amounts to EUR 26 million. The maximum co-financing rate from the CEF amounts to 85% of the total value of the project, EUR 30.26 million.
Under the project, the Rijeka Brajdica railway station will be reconstructed and an intermodal container will be built in Brajdica, that will have a considerable impact on the existing capacity of the station and will provide technical requirements for interoperability for the European railway network.
This project, the grant agreement was signed at the end of 2015 and it will be implemented by the Port of Rijeka Authority and HŽ Infrastruktura.
The project aims at upgrading the railway connection between Rijeka and the Adriatic Gate Container Terminal, also known as Brajdica, one of 5 locations of the port of Rijeka. It is located on the Mediterranean Corridor and is part of a Global Project that aims to develop and improve connections among the North Adriatic ports.
According to the implementation schedule, the project should be completed in December 2019.
