The Vityaz-M new tram has been tested on the on Tverskaya Zastava Square tram track, near the Belorussky railway station. The vehicle will be put into service on the new tram track that will run from Lesnaya Street to Tverskaya Zastava Square.
The improvement of Tverskaya Zastava Square is in its final stage and will be finished before the end of the summer.
The tramway is equipped with modern visual and audio passenger information systems and safety system, which includes video surveillance and satellite monitoring of the car location (GPS and GLONASS). The capacity of the tram is 260 persons with 60 seats. Wide doors allow for quick passengers’ boarding and deboarding, the aisle ensures for comfort movement along the saloon even in case of maximum tramway loading. The doors are equipped with driver call button designated for disabled passengers, wheelchair ramps are also installed for them. The area for wheelchairs is fitted with a fixation system. Application of low-floor pivoting bogies of the original design enables tramway service at the existing infrastructure of Russian cities without its modernization.
This spring, Moscow has put into service the first of 13 low-floor Vityaz-M trams, manufactured by Transmashholding together with PC TS. Trams are made at the facility of Tver Car Building Works.
In October 2016, Metrowagonmash (a Transmashholding company) was awarded a contract for delivery of 300 three-section tramways including maintenance services. Under the tender conditions deliveries will be performed in 2017 through 2019 (100 trams per year). The value of the contract was RUB 56 billion (USD 946.78 million).
