So far, the Russian government is not considering the privatization of RZD, First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov said, quoted by Prime agency. “I will say right away that we do not intend to privatize RZD. Just some days ago a privatization program has been approved by the government, and RZD is not included on the list. Moreover, when we were discussing privatization of RZD last year, we were talking about a very small stake, which could be sold to non-government pension funds, but even this is not on the agenda now,” Igor Shuvalov said.
The Economic Development Ministry’s privatization plan for 2017–2019 encompassed a reduction of the government’s stake in RZD to 75 plus one share from 100% currently.
