Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) has chosen KeolisAmey, the joint venture between Keolis (60%) and British firm Amey (40%), to operate and maintain Metrolink, Greater Manchester’s tram network for up to ten years, from July 2017.
As part of this new contract, KeolisAmey will install free wifi on the fleet of 120 trams, and will oversee the extension of the Trafford Park line, which is scheduled for completion by 2020/21.
Metrolink is now the UK’s largest tram network with 96 km of track. It has seven lines and services 93 different stations across Greater Manchester’s town and city centres, airport and suburbs.
