Railway regulator ACM has decided that Dutch railway track operator ProRail should refund regional rail companies EUR 8 million. ProRail has been told to refund regional rail service companies Arriva, Connexxion, Syntus and Veolia because it has overcharged them in the previous two years.
The four companies had made a complaint to the railway regulator ACM after ProRail increased its charges by 18% in 2015 and 2016, the equivalent of an extra €50m in costs. The new calculations show that ProRail had incorrectly included one item when calculating the fees and this should be refunded, ACM has decided.
