Moscow public transport operator Mosgortrans has announced that Metrovagonmash won the tender to supply 300 three-section trams, rrcrail.com reports.
There were three bidders in the tender – Metrovagonmash, Stadler Minsk and Khrunichev State Space Science and Manufacturing Corporation.
Metrovagonmash’s offer was a little over RUB 56 billion (USD 873 million). The trams will have to be delivered in 2017-2019. Moscow is to sign a life cycle contract with Metrovagonmash, under which the manufacturer will provide maintenance to the rolling stock within its life set at 30 years.
The project is to be executed in cooperation with PC Transportation Systems. The trams will be manufactured at the Tver Car-Building Plant (TVZ).
