European Investment Bank (EIB) is evaluating a EUR 157 million project for Lodz, Poland, that involves the expansion and modernisation of East-West (Retkinia-Olechów) tram route in the city. The proposed EIB finance is PLN 111 million (EUR 26 million), an investment project that was submitted by the city of Lodz for allocation under the existing Lodz Urban Infrastructure framework loan.
The project is part of the programme to upgrade the public transport and road infrastructure in Lodz.
The project consists of the reconstruction and an extension of a major tram line in the East-West direction in Lodz and related road works, the construction of integrated bus-tram passenger interchanges as well as the extension of the existing traffic management system giving priority to trams at junctions in the city centre.
