Preliminary tests of Lastochka Premium (ES2GP) EMU train manufactured by the Ural Locomotives plant has been completed. This is the first Russian passenger train fitted with the all-new Russian-made microprocessor-based control and diagnostics system (MPSUiD). Being based on the advanced Ethernet system bus, MPSUiD offers data security and backup at par with the system’s foreign counterparts.
The EMU has successfully completed preliminary tests and a portion of acceptance tests confirming that the new version train – its traction and braking performance among other things – meets the requirements as set out in the Product Development Specification.
According to Russian Scientific Research Institute of Railway Transport (VNIIZhT), the greater part of the train control system validation was already completed at the end of July. The EMU has fewer connections between its cars, which contributes to increased reliability. The new EMU control system allows for a simpler automated train driving system and for the use of equipment sourced from various suppliers. The system allows collecting, analyzing and storing all the diagnostics information on board each railcar.
The use of the Russian control system has allowed to integrate into the EMU a number of Russian-engineered peripheral systems that control the braking, the passenger cabin climate, the passenger information systems, and the exterior doors.
The plant’s specialists continue to enhance the system performance based on results of the tests.
